Proven Industry Expertise at a National Scale
Mike’s career began at Terminix, where he spent nearly a decade learning the business of pest management– gaining a deep understanding of treatment procedures, staying ahead of evolving industry regulations, and gaining insight into the industry’s available services and nuances.
His expertise earned him a spot on the Terminix President’s Council, an elite advisory board of four hand-selected professionals tasked with fostering company growth on a nationwide level and driving best practices in pest management.
What truly established him as a leader in the company was his focus on customer retention. While this grew Terminix’s revenue by 20%, his biggest realization was that customer retention comes from delivering the best results through effective treatment and personalized care, an understanding he would later take with him to the local NJ community.
Concentrating on the Community He Loves
After years of shaping national programs, Mike came back to his New Jersey roots. As a former professional baseball player for The Newark Bears (Independent League), New Jersey is his home and his heart.
Mike jumped into leadership consultancy at two of New Jersey’s largest pest businesses. This experience gave him valuable perspective on the strengths and shortcomings of the available options for pest control customers, inspiring him to build a business rooted in personal service.
Building A Business Rooted in Service
While building Pest by MD, Mike had a vision of delivering the best service to the people of New Jersey.
He wanted to take a holistic approach to property inspection, viewing properties as a whole instead of focusing on a single issue. He wanted to make customer communication a priority, educating clients and easing their concerns at every step of the process. He wanted to deliver fair and transparent packages, designing clear and simple packages for easy understanding and never prioritizing profit over service with nickel-and-diming.
And that’s exactly what he created.
